​Study Shows that Learning Music Strengthens the Brain in Various Ways

I recently came across this great article written by Cory Turner of NPR describing the results of some scientific studies involving young students and the benefit they receive with two or more years of music lessons.  

Music lessons have been shown to increase a student's math, reading and coordination skills.  This specific study showed that young developing children who took two years or more of music lessons had better speech recognition skills.
