Improve your Hand Dexterity for Piano with Hanon Exercises!

Besides scales, what is something you can practice daily that will improve your ability to play up and down the piano?

Well, Hanon exercises are designed to improve your hand strength, dexterity, and fingering.  

In the last blog post, I discussed ways that you can improve your piano technique and practicing these exercises were a highlight on that list.

How I Recommend You Practice

• Practice through each exercise a few times a day for a week or longer.  
  

• Try playing the exercise in the key of C Major and then moving on to other keys as you master playing in C Major.  For example, if you learn example No. 1 in C Major, you should try playing through example No. 1 in G Major or  D Major.

•  You may read that you are supposed to practice every exercise everyday, but I do not advise this as it will take a  long time to do and could possibly overuse your hand muscles.
